UK mobile developer Tripledot has agreed to acquire AppLovin’s video game portfolio and studio network for $800 million.
The deal will see Tripledot acquire 10 studios to significantly expand its operations in key markets including the United States and Asia.
Tripledot currently operates a range of live titles including Woodoku, Nut Sort, and Triple Tile. Following the deal Tripledot will own 12 studios across 23 cities and boast a mobile portfolio that serves over 25 million daily active users.
The acquisition will be funded via a combination of cash on the balance sheet, new debt, and equity—making AppLovin a minority shareholder in Tripledot.
Tripledot will be acquiring the following 10 studios and titles in an additional 17 cities across North America, Europe and Asia:

Machine Zone (Mobile Strike and Game of War)
Discussing the rationale behind the move, Tripledot said the deal will grant it access to a global talent pool that will allow it to create “better player experiences.”
It claimed the move will also deliver “instant scale” by turning it into one of the largest mobile developers and publishers globally while bolstering its “comprehensive data science and AI capabilities.”
Finally, it underlined the importance of diversifying its portfolio and noted that post-acquisition no individual title will generate more than 10 percent of its total net revenue.
“Creating and operating games is our passion. Our mission is to become the world’s most successful mobile game studio,” said Tripledot co-founder and CEO, Lior Shiff, in an announcement.
“Acquiring AppLovin’s games portfolio is a big step towards achieving that goal—taking us from being a high-performing challenger to a true global leader. It gives us additional scale, diversification and access to the best talent globally. We’re thrilled to welcome these incredible teams to Tripledot.”
AppLovin CEO Adam Foroughi explained the company has “never been a game developer at heart” and initially began purchasing studios to help train its earliest machine learning models. The hope, he added, is that AppLovin’s teams will now be able to thrive under new leadership.
