TTArtisan has introduced a cine lens with a twist: dual bokeh. The 35mm T2.1 full-frame lens features a small switch right on the barrel that lets you toggle between two distinct background styles – bubble and soft – with a single click. It’s available in E, X, Z, RF, and L mounts. Let’s take a closer look.
TTArtisan is a Chinese lens manufacturer established in 2019, specializing in designing and producing affordable, manual-focus lenses for mirrorless camera systems. Some of their lenses include a 50mm F/0.95 manual full-frame prime and a 35mm F/1.4 for APS-C cameras, which we wrote about previously. This lens is the first to offer a mechanical switch that lets you change the character of the bokeh on the fly. Other lenses with bokeh control use rings that gradually shift rendering, but none switch between two fixed bokeh styles mid-shoot.
Dual bokeh system – bubble or soft
What stands out with this lens is its dual bokeh system, which allows users to change the quality of background blur with a switch on the barrel. In “Bubble” mode, out-of-focus highlights give you that vintage, soap-bubble bokeh. Switching to “Soft” mode gives a smoother, more blended background that feels more traditional. It’s a simple way to shift the mood of a shot without changing your setup.

Manual operation and focus throw
The TTArtisan 35mm T2.1 is fully manual and designed with cine use in mind: 0.8 mod gear pitch, a T2.1–T22 declicked aperture range, and a dual focus throw. Notably, the focus throw changes depending on the bokeh setting: in Soft mode, you get a long 313° throw for precise control; in Bubble mode, the throw shortens to 131°, favoring quicker pulls. There’s no electronic communication with the camera – focus and aperture are entirely manual.
The lens weighs between 669g and 735g (1.5-1.6 lbs) and varies in length from 79mm to 83mm (approximately 3.1 to 3.3 inches), depending on the mount. Given its relatively compact size, it should be suitable for handheld or gimbal setups, depending on your rig.
Mounting options
The lens comes in Sony E, Fuji X, Nikon Z, Canon RF, and L-Mount versions. It covers full-frame sensors but can also be used on APS-C cameras, though the field of view will be narrower due to the crop factor. Mount choice will depend on your camera system, and no adapters are required.
